The session has been in conversation for many months about how to organize congregational life and mission in a way that involves all of us and engages our creativity and passion in ways that fit busy lifestyles. The result is the decision to move from program committees to seasonal planning teams. Instead of the Nurture, Worship, Membership, and Mission committees each working individually to plan and implement programming over a two-year committee term, all those functions will be addressed by one team for a liturgical season, e.g. Lent. The idea enables people to sign up for the time and season of the year that they enjoy and are available: Advent/Christmas, Epiphany, Lent/Easter, Pentecost, Fall Harvest. Each team will be convened by an elder, and will need a variety of gifts and skills. The design enables even a family to work together on a team.
The standing committees of Personnel, Endowment, Property, and Nominating will remain.
The idea is in its fledgling stage and there is lots of conversation still to happen, but the goal is to implement it in the fall of 2009. Questions or ideas? Please address them to one of the ministry team members: Barbara Bird, Lisa Morrill, Sandy Peterson, E.A. Sears, Brian Shaffer.
